Movie
Haven't watched one for many moons. But this looks interesting. Wondering when it will be screened in Singapore...
The compelling true story of two young ladies: one reaching the heights of the world’s tallest peak and the other descending into depths of despair.
Esther Tan, at age 23, took a chance one day that eventually became a four year journey which culminated in her being part of the first women’s team from Singapore to reach the top of Mount Everest.
Esther Mok, at age 23, was just an ordinary girl. One day, upon returning from a holiday in Hong Kong, she suddenly achieved infamy as the first carrier of SARS into Singapore and notoriety as a super-infector, transmitting the disease to over 90 other people. Among those she infected were her parents, her maternal uncle and her pastor, all of whom died from the disease. ....

Molder of Dreams
by Clark Mollenhoff
Teachers …
You are the molders of their dreams,
the gods who build or crush
their young beliefs of right or wrong.
You are the spark that sets aflame the
poet's hand, or lights the flame
of some great singer's song.
You are the gods of the young, the very young.
You are the guardian of a million dreams.
Your every smile or frown can heal or pierce a heart.
Yours are a hundred lives, a thousand lives,
yours the pride of loving them, and the sorrow, too.
Your patient work, your touch, make you the gods of hope
who fill their souls with dreams
to make those dreams come true.
Excerpted from the Focus on the Family radio broadcast "Teacher of the Year" featuring Guy Doud. President Ronald Reagan read this poem to Doud when Doud received the 1986 National Teacher of the Year for the United States of America. Used with permission.

2011 Resolutions
Read this article on 2011 resolutions by Americans. Glad to know 30% of them got to do with health/weight. But is it surprising that only 5% involved something spiritual? Or that mostly divorced people will want make some changes in this area?
Worth pondering...

Saying the Same Thing Differently
A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.
A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.
Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning?" and continued, "What did you write?'
The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way." What he had written was: "Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it."
