Maldives (15-19Dec)

We went for our Maldives trip booked during the recent NATAS fair.

So, we flew off to Maldives Angsana Ihuru (there're now 2 Angsana resorts in Maldives) for 3 days.

Expensive place. Orange juice is US$7 per glass!! But very relaxing place. Got a deluxe villa with jaccuzi (see video).

SG missed out on diving to Manta Point :-( Heard from another Singaporean who did that he saw one huge manta while diving there... Went for 3 dives, including a good house reef dive (wreck & lots lion fishes).

But the snorkelling is good. Must say they have a good house reef.

Interestingly, there's no TV in villa. Fortunately, we came prepared & brought some CDs, including SG's fav William Smith. We spent quite some time reading & praying too.

Food-wise, 'cos it's full-board, all meals are taken care of. We are very impressed with the excellent service. For example, we have the whole speed boat to ourselves when we arrive!

We're assigned the same guy (Hassan) for all the meals. He even know when is our last day!! And every afternoon, they'll make up the room & put petals on the bed!

Overall, a good relaxing trip.

When a Child is Born

And all of this happens, because the world is waiting.
Waiting for one child; Black-white-yellow, no one knows...
but a child that will grow up and turn tears to laughter,
hate to love, war to peace and everyone to everyone's neighbor,
and misery and suffering will be words to be forgotten forever.

A ray of hope flickers in the sky
A tiny star lights up way up high
All across the land dawns a brand new morn
This comes to pass when a child is born

A silent wish sails the seven seas
The winds of change whisper in the trees
And the walls of doubt crumble tossed and torn
This comes to pass, when a child is born

A rosy hue settles all around
You got the feel, you're on solid ground
For a spell or two no one seems forlorn
This comes to pass, when a child is born

It's all a dream and illusion now,
It must come true sometime soon somehow,
All across the land dawns a brand new morn,
This comes to pass when a child is born.

Crab Shack

SG & Karen went to celebrate a good friend, Beiwei, birthday along with the very nice husband. Yes, it's on Sat, top-of-table clash between the hubby's team Man U & Arsenal. He was very interested in the match. But he chose to accompany the wife for a simple but fun dinner at Crab Shack along Upper Thomson Road.

We had a 8-piece flower crabs, Japanese chicken pizza, some fried squid & some fries. Good food & really lovely company. It helps that the evening is cool & nobody is smoking that day!

Feel The Nails

Words by Ray Boltz, Music by Ray Boltz and Steve Millikan

They tell me Jesus died
For my transgressions
And that He paid that price
A long long time ago
When He gave His life for me
On a hill called Calvary
But there's something else
I want to know

CHORUS:
Does He still feel the nails
Every time I fail?
Does He hear the crowd cry,
Crucify, again?
Am I causing Him pain?
Then I know I've got to change
I just can't bear the thought
Of hurting Him

It seems that I'm so good
At breaking promises
And I treat His precious grace
So carelessly
But each time He forgives
What if He relives
The agony He felt on that tree?

Does He still feel the nails
Every time I fail?
Does He hear the crowd cry,
Crucify, again?
Am I causing Him pain?
Then I know I've got to change
I just can't bear the thought
Of hurting Him

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord

QQ-Rice

We tried this new stall at Plaza Singapura #B2-34 (PS) today. New food from Taiwan. Took the 2-in-1 rice ball. Very nice. Especially with 5 different fillings! A bit $$ though, about $4 for 1 rice ball. But definitely worth trying!

They also have another stall at Novena Square 2 (#01-06).

SG & Karen went out with Belle & Wilson on 1 Jan 07. Yes, quite a while ago. Came across an interesting Korean Rice snack shop along Upper Thomson Road called Hankook Rice Cake Shop. Very authentic Korean rice snacks!

Forest Adventure

Our Care Group (aka Cell Group) had a mystery outing on 8 Sep, organised by an outdoor lover, Belle. We were told only of location (Bedok Reservoir), but not what activity. On arrival, we discovered it was the new Forest Adventure.

The Grand Course has 4 stations or 'sites'. Very safe in SG's opinion. Took us about 2.5 hours to complete everything, including repeating a good tarzan jump near the end!

Here are some highlights of our 2-plus hours of sweat, climbing & zipping down wire lines.

PS: Courtesy of Delia who helped to take most of the photos!!

Stage 0 We started with some simple 'exercises', including safety practices (as we will be on our own from Stage 2-4 without supervision).

Karen learning to land from a zip line...

Slow & steady..

Hurry up, I need go toilet!!

Belle demo the fastest way across a line

Stage 1 Supervised Station- Tarzan & First Zip line (across water!)

Stage 2 To be or Not to Be (2 possible routes)

Of cos must try difficult one. Pay $25, you know!

I'm right behind you!

Joel ready to fly while Belle is calling pizza??

Stage 3

Always a challenge to try to face forward when coming down. 'cos we tend to spin & sometimes landed on our back. Here are some of our heroics!

Belle's coming down the zip line

Andrew's zipping down

Mingli zooming by

Joel trying to stay forward!
